Hi,

Background: we are running laptops in a corporate, managed environment.

I blew up my laptop, but the M.2 drive survived.

The M.2 was transplanted into another laptop, same brand, model, spec.

The laptop booted, Windows 10 initialised and presented as it did on the previous laptop.

With the exception of MS Office, all other applications, including those from Microsoft were functioning the same as before transplanting the M.2.

Attempting to open any of the Office applications results in 'Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned... error code C0090016'.

From a lot of hunting and investigation on the internet, there are many instances of this type of error occurring, some on single MSO applications and some on the full Office suite. The error code I get here though seems to be less common.

I've tried many of the suggested fixes to no avail, still the same error and code.

The last thing I would like to try is TPM Clear (from tpm.msc), but I do not understand the full implications on my laptop considering that all my work tools are operating as expected except for MS Office (which I can connect to on-line).

Will clearing the TPM affect user profiles? There is comment that loss of data is possible, but I'm fully backed up.

Post TPM clear, will the computer be able to connect to our corporate network?
