Unable to complete Microsoft account verification when redeeming a gift card

I am trying to redeem a Microsoft gift card on Microsoft rewards, but I cannot complete the required account verification.

After selecting "Verify your account here", I am redirected to the verification page. However, instead of showing the verification steps, it says: "You are currently verifying with account A. Switch your account and re-scan the QR code to verify."

The problem is that I am already using the correct account (Account A) that I am trying to redeem the gift card with. Switching accounts does not fix the issue, because the verification request still stays linked to Account A.

I changed my primary alias to email A, which is the Microsoft account that earned the Rewards points.

The redemption flow now correctly identifies Account A:

The redemption page says the LoL gift card will be sent to email A.

The verification page also states that I am verifying with Account A.

However, even though the correct account is being used throughout the process, the verification never completes. Instead, it loops back and eventually tells me to switch accounts and re-scan the QR code, even though I am already using the correct Microsoft account.

Can you please help me complete the verification or explain how to fix this issue?

    Hi Nguyen Tuan

Since the redemption page correctly shows the Rewards account and destination email, this may not be a simple account-alias issue. If you've already confirmed that the same Microsoft account is signed into Microsoft Rewards, the Bing app, and the browser, and the verification page still loops back to "Switch account and re-scan the QR code," the problem may require investigation by the Microsoft Rewards team rather than additional client-side troubleshooting.

Before contacting support, make sure you're not using a VPN/proxy and avoid repeated verification attempts, as this can sometimes trigger temporary verification restrictions.

If the issue persists, contact Microsoft Rewards Support and include screenshots showing:

    • The reward redemption page
    • The email/account displayed for the reward
    • The verification page showing the account-verification loop

Hope you'll get this sorted out!

This issue is commonly caused by an account mismatch in the Bing app or browser session, even when the same account appears to be signed in.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Confirm the same Microsoft account is signed in everywhere
      • Sign out of the Bing app.
      • Sign back in with the same Microsoft account used for Microsoft Rewards.
      • Retry the redemption and verification flow.
    2. Clear browser cache and cookies
      • In Edge, go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data now > Choose what to clear > Clear now.
      • Sign in again and retry.
    3. Use a private browsing window
      • Open an InPrivate or Incognito window.
      • Sign in to the Microsoft account used for Rewards.
      • Try the redemption again. This helps rule out stale session data.
    4. Update the Bing app
      • Install the latest version from the device app store.
      • Restart the device after updating.
    5. Try another browser, device, or network
      • Test from a different browser or a PC.
      • Switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data.
      • If a VPN or proxy is in use, disconnect it before retrying.
    6. Avoid repeated verification attempts
      • Excessive or repetitive requests can trigger a temporary block.
      • If multiple attempts were already made, wait up to 24 hours before trying again. If still blocked, wait longer, up to 1 week.
    7. Check whether phone verification is affected
      • If verification by phone also fails, Microsoft may be blocking the method temporarily due to unusual activity or network risk conditions.
      • VOIP numbers cannot be used for verification codes.
    8. Use Microsoft account sign-in troubleshooting if needed
      • If the verification flow still does not complete, use the sign-in helper to identify account sign-in or verification issues.
    9. Contact support if the QR/Bing app verification remains stuck
      • For Microsoft Rewards-specific redemption problems, contact Microsoft Rewards Support.
      • For general Microsoft account verification issues, use Contact Microsoft Support.
