When I try to accept calls on my Pixel, it sounds horrible, like they are on speaker in and 5 feet away from it. I don't have this issue on my computer.

I am on 5G and my throughput is in the hundreds, up and down, so bandwidth isnt an issue. I have looked, and there are not quality settings besides noise suppression which is set to auto. I dont have this issue with Google Voice calls, facebook calls, or any other voip system, only teams.

Hello Shane Greenfield,

Thank you for the detailed information. Since Teams works normally on your computer and other calling applications work correctly on the Pixel, I would like to narrow down whether this is related to Teams audio routing, audio processing, or the mobile connection.

Could you please confirm whether you are using the Pixel’s built-in speaker and earpiece, or an external headset or Bluetooth device? If Bluetooth is enabled, please temporarily turn it off and test another Teams call using only the phone’s built-in audio.

During a Teams call, please tap the speaker icon and switch between:

  • Device, which uses the phone’s earpiece
  • Speaker, which uses the phone’s loudspeaker

Please let me know whether the audio quality changes between these two options.teams-mobile-audio

Could you also change Noise suppression from Auto to Off, or try another available level, and compare the call quality? In addition, please confirm whether the problem occurs during every Teams call or only when speaking with a particular person.

Although your 5G throughput is high, real-time call quality can also be affected by latency, jitter, and packet loss rather than bandwidth alone. Please test a Teams call over Wi-Fi and let me know whether the audio sounds different from the same call over 5G.

If the issue continues, please clear the Teams app cache: Android Settings > Apps > Teams > Storage & cache > Clear cache

Then restart the phone and test again. If clearing the cache does not help, uninstall Teams, reinstall the latest version from Google Play, sign in again, and repeat the test.

These details will help determine whether the issue is related to the Teams mobile application, audio routing on the Pixel, or the network path used during Teams calls.

Kind regards,
