When I click on send/receive mail the green line appears and goes to nearly 3/4 of space and then stops. Outlook tells me that the loading time exceeded.

How can you help me?

    Dear Liora,

I tried to follow your instructions and could not follow all them. Then - doing nothing - Outlook suddenly started to work normally and it still works. I am not sure what happened. Actually, I got information that siol.net in certain region (not mine!) is in trouble and thet the company tries to solve it. So this is the only possible answer to my question.

Thanks for your concern and have a nice day!

    Dear @Primoz Sark

I hope you’re having a good day.  Thank you for reaching out.

Based on your description, Outlook is still able to send messages, but the receive/synchronization process stops partway through and eventually times out. This may be related to mailbox synchronization, connectivity, an Outlook add-in, the local Outlook profile, or the Outlook data file rather than a complete loss of connectivity. To help narrow down the cause, I recommend the following steps:

    1. Verify whether the mailbox is receiving mail

Please sign in to Outlook on the web (OWA) and send yourself a test message from another account.

    • If the message appears in Outlook on the web, the mailbox itself is receiving mail correctly.
    • If the message does not appear, the issue may be mailbox- or server-related rather than Outlook-specific.
    1. Check Outlook connection status

In Outlook, look at the status bar in the lower-right corner and note whether it shows:

    • Connected
    • Connected to Microsoft Exchange

    or

    • Disconnected
    • Trying to connect
    • Need Password.

This can provide important clues about the connection state.

    1. Start Outlook in Safe Mode

Safe Mode loads Outlook without add-ins.

    • Close Outlook > Press Windows + R > Type: outlook.exe /safe > Press Enter.

If receiving mail works normally in Safe Mode, an add-in may be interfering with synchronization. Microsoft also recommends troubleshooting classic Outlook add-ins and connectivity issues when diagnosing Outlook behavior.

    1. Check for Send/Receive error details

    After the timeout occurs:

    • Press F9 or select Send/Receive.
    • Open the progress/details window if available.
    • Note any error code shown (for example, 0x8004210A, 0x800CCC0F, etc.).

These codes can help identify whether the issue is related to connectivity, authentication, server communication, or the local Outlook data file.

    Please provide:

    1. Your Outlook version (File > Office Account > About Outlook)
    2. Whether this is a Microsoft 365 work account, Gmail account, or another type of mailbox
    3. Any error message or error code shown during Send/Receive
    4. Whether Outlook on the web receives new messages successfully
    5. Whether the issue also occurs in Safe Mode

With those details, we can better determine whether the problem is related to Outlook itself, the Outlook profile, the local data file, or the connection to the mail service.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.

    Warm regards,
