I changed email for renewal and need to merge data from old account

I recently renewed my 365 subscription with a different email address. I find that there seems to be no way to connect the new email account with the old email account, therefore, I keep getting notices that I need to renew (the old account) or my data will be lost. How can I let the system know that I have already renewed under a new email, and to switch the data from the old email account to the new one? Can anyone help?

Hi Carolyn,

As per checking, Microsoft accounts are treated as separate entities, so subscriptions and data cannot be merged between different accounts. Therefore, if you renewed Microsoft 365 under a new email address, the system will not automatically recognize that it replaces your old account, which is why you still see renewal notices tied to the original subscription.

On this case, the best step to proceed is to confirm which account you want to use going forward, on whether the one where the active subscription is now registered and then manually move your files from the old account to the new one to ensures the data is preserved and accessible under the account that holds the valid subscription.

Because there is no way to merge accounts or transfer subscriptions directly, so manual moving files is the only supported method to consolidate your data.
