I am able to receive emails but not send emails from my Microsoft Outlook account from my Windows 11 PC application.

Any insight to why and how to fix?

Thanks

It is an outlook.com account, I set it up with the purchase of a new laptop. It is the newest version of outlook, not the classic version.

When I send, it appears to go through, no error message and it isn't held up in the Outbox or in Drafts.

It is also not sending from the webmail page https://outlook.live.com/mail/

I have been testing this with a Gmail account I have...I can't send from the Outlook account and have anything show up in my Gmail account. However, it did work when I sent an email from my Gmail account and replied back to Gmail from Outlook. It will not work if I compose from Outlook and send to Gmail. I also tested sending from Outlook to my husband's Gmail account and nothing was received by his account either.

Appreciate any insight and assistance you might have!

    Hi Lacey Eastgate

I understand that New Outlook on your Windows 11 PC receives messages normally but cannot send them.

To identify whether this is an issue with the New Outlook app or with the email account itself, could you confirm:

    • Is the account an Outlook.com/Hotmail address, or an account from another provider such as Gmail, Yahoo, or an internet provider?
    • What happens when you select Send? Does the message remain in Drafts/Outbox, or do you receive an error?
    • Can you send successfully from the same account on its webmail page, such as https://outlook.live.com?

If sending works on the webmail, please try the following in New Outlook:

1, Open Drafts and Outbox, then check whether the unsent message is stored there. If the oldest pending message contains a large attachment, remove the attachment and send a short text-only test message. Microsoft notes that a large attachment can prevent that message and subsequent messages from being sent.

2, On the View tab, select Sync, then try sending the test message again. Microsoft notes that this manual Sync option does not work the same way for third-party accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, POP, or IMAP

3, Force-close and restart new Outlook app

    • Right‑click Start > Task Manager
    • Select Microsoft Outlook > End task
    • Reopen new Outlook for Windows normally

4, Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Outlook (new) > Advanced options, select Repair, and test sending again.

For reference, you can see: I can't send or receive messages in Outlook

Looking forward to your updates so we can continue further. Thanks for your understanding.
