Will temporary onmicrosoft email address transfer to our final email address?

We're transferring our systems to Microsoft 365. For the time being, we will have onmicrosoft addresses. Will any mail sent to those addresses still be accessible when we're using our email addresses that are yet to be determined?

The answer is yes, in Microsoft 365, the onmicrosoft.com domain is the tenant’s fallback domain and can be used for usernames and email addresses. As long as the mailbox is kept and the onmicrosoft.com address remains on that mailbox as an address/alias, mail sent to the onmicrosoft.com address will still be accessible after you later switch to your final business email domain.

For example, if one of your users has an email like ******@yourtenant.onmicrosoft.com now, and later the primary email becomes ******@yourcompany.com the earlier emails will still be in John’s mailbox, and future emails to the onmicrosoft.com address should continue to arrive if that address remains assigned to his mailbox.
