This is built automatically with every notebook, but you can organize and customize it by adding sections, setting group permissions, and locking the space.

To organize the Collaboration Space, open your Class Notebook in OneNote or Microsoft Teams and select the Collaboration Space group. Add a new section at the bottom for each class activity or group project, such as one section for each student team. Within each section, create new pages where students can write notes, brainstorm ideas, share research, or collaborate on assignments.

To manage permissions for specific groups, go to Office.com, sign in, and open the Class Notebook app, or select Manage Notebooks from the OneNote ribbon. Choose Collaboration Space Permissions, then select an existing section or create a new one. Check the boxes next to the students who should have edit access to that section. If desired, configure other students with read-only access so they can view the content without making changes, and then save your settings.

When you need to prevent further edits, use the Lock Collaboration Space option in the management settings to temporarily make the collaboration area read-only, such as during a lesson review or after an assignment deadline. To monitor participation, use Show Authors or Page Versions on the View tab in OneNote to identify which students made specific edits and review changes over time.
