my question:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-au/answers/questions/5964564/microsoft-edge-151-0-4129-59-is-inconvenient

Hello everyone,

Today, while using my desktop PC, I noticed that the folder under:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\

which was originally:

150.0.4078.105

was suddenly renamed to:

150.0.4078.105.deleting

I did not manually rename, delete, or modify this folder this morning, and I did not uninstall Microsoft Edge.

I would like to know:

  1. Is the .deleting suffix automatically created by the Microsoft Edge update process?

Does this mean Edge is cleaning up an old version after an update?

Could this be related to a recent Microsoft Edge update?

If Microsoft Edge is working normally, should I just leave it alone and allow Windows/Edge to complete the cleanup?

Currently, Microsoft Edge is working normally, and Windows Update does not show any errors.

System information:

  • Windows version: Windows 10

Microsoft Edge version: (can be added)

Date discovered: August 4, 2026

Thank you for any advice or confirmation.

Hello 林宗昇,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

The .deleting suffix is used by Edge/Chromium updater to mark an old version that is subjected to be deleted. When the update is completed, the folder will be eventually removed. And yes, it is very likely to be related to a recent Edge update.

This is an expected behavior and usually don't indicate any issue. So you can rest assured if your computer and Edge are still working properly. I hope this clarifies.
