My samsung galaxy book2 randomly stopped recognizing my external montior and won't recognize it no matter what i do. Things ive already done:

  • reset the driver with windows + ctrl + shift + b
  • windows + p (project) - tried every option
  • changed display settings to resolution of monitor
  • force detect in settings (it doesnt find it)
  • tried two cables, clearly they work because the montior light turns on and the screen switches from the default sleeping image to a blank screen
  • factory reset my laptop
  • 100% updated everything for windows and intel (including the graphics driver - Iris Xe)
  • uninstalled and reinstalled driver
  • disabled and reinabled driver
  • 30 second power off and restart computer

Is there anything else I can do to fix this? I really need the external monitor for my work.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

Since the monitor wakes up from sleep to a blank screen, the physical connection is detected, but the video signal negotiation is failing.

To narrow this down, please answer these quick questions:

    1 = How is the monitor connected? Direct HDMI cable, USB-C adapter/cable, or a USB-C Hub/Docking Station?

2 = Does the laptop work on a TV or another display, or does the monitor work with another computer?

3 = Can you share a screenshot of Device Manager (Press "Windows + X" and select "Device Manager") with these sections expanded? Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

    • Display adapters
    • Monitors
    • Universal Serial Bus controllers (or USB Connector Managers)

4 = Also, share a screenshot of your system information.

    • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

Maximize the window and use the screenshot tool.

    Looking forward to your reply.
