Request for an Exception to Renew My Expired Microsoft Certification

Dear Microsoft Certification Support Team,

I am writing to ask whether it might be possible to make a one-time exception that would allow me to complete the renewal assessment for my certification, which expired recently.

I fully understand that missing the renewal deadline was entirely my responsibility, and I sincerely apologize for overlooking it. I am simply reaching out in the hope that there may be any possibility of completing the renewal assessment rather than having to retake the full certification exam.

The certification is:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
• Expiration date: July 28, 2026

I completely understand if this is not possible under the certification policy, but I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know whether there is any option available in my situation.

The renewal period is open for 180 days before your expiry date. The renewal window cannot be extended or reopened. There are no exceptions.

No. The renewal window cannot be extended or reopened after expiration. The only way to renew a Microsoft Certification is to pass the free online renewal assessment before the certification expires, and there are no alternative paths.

If the certification has already expired, it must be earned again by passing the required exam(s).

If the certification has not yet expired, the renewal assessment is available only during the 6 months before the expiration date, and the expiration date and time are in UTC. The renewal can be completed from the Learn profile by going to Profile > Certifications and looking for the blue Renew button.
