Capturing audio, video, and screen content from Teams meetings for later review or sharing
Dear John,
I'm sorry to hear this happened, and I understand the urgency given how important the meeting was. The screenshot shows both “Recording upload failed because the owner’s OneDrive isn’t set up” and later “This recording has expired and is no longer available,” so recovery depends on whether Teams ever successfully saved the recording to OneDrive. I do want to be upfront with you: because the upload failed rather than completed, there may not be a copy stored in OneDrive to recover. That said, it is still worth checking thoroughly before assuming the worst.
1.Check OneDrive
Now that OneDrive is configured:
- Sign in to OneDrive on the web using the same work account.
- Open My files > Recordings.
- Search for the meeting title and meeting date.
- Check Recycle bin as well.
- If the recording is present, select it and choose Restore.
If this was a channel meeting, check the relevant Team’s Shared tab or open the channel’s SharePoint site and check its Recordings folder and recycle bin.
2.Contact the Microsoft 365 administrator urgently
If the recording is absent from OneDrive and both recycle bins, ask your organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator to open a Microsoft support case immediately. An upload-failed recording may temporarily remain recoverable for a limited period, but once the temporary copy has expired and been permanently deleted, it might not be recoverable. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin. If you don't know who your IT administrator is, please refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support
I truly hope the recording can be recovered. Given how time-sensitive this is, please reach out to your administrator as soon as you are able. Please let me know how it goes, and if there is anything else I can help with. Wishing you all the best.
