Hello,

I believe I have found a possible issue in Microsoft Paint.

My son who is in standard 3, while using MS Paint found an issue. While using the Fill tool and increase the Tolerance to approximately 75% or higher, clicking inside a completely closed shape fills the entire canvas instead of only the enclosed area.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Microsoft Paint.
  2. Draw a completely closed circle or any closed shape.
  3. Select the Fill tool.
  4. Increase the Tolerance to around 75% or higher.
  5. Click inside the closed shape.

Expected result: Only the inside of the closed shape should be filled.

Actual result: The entire canvas is filled.

I tested this at 8× zoom, and the shape appeared to be completely closed, but the issue still occurred consistently.

Unfortunately, I am using a company-managed laptop, so I do not have permission to use the Feedback Hub. I am posting here to check whether this is a known issue or if others can reproduce it.

If anyone can test this on the latest version of Microsoft Paint, please let me know whether you observe the same behavior.

Thank you.

    Hello Kuntal Roy,

Thank you for taking the time to report this and for providing detailed reproduction steps. I understand that you're using a company-managed device and therefore may not have access to the Feedback Hub. That's completely understandable.

While the community forum is not a formal reporting channel, your detailed description has been noted. If another device with access to Feedback Hub becomes available, I would encourage submitting the report there, as it allows the right team to receive diagnostic information that can help with investigation.

Please pass along our appreciation to your son for spotting and documenting this behavior. Attention to detail like this is always valuable.

Thank you for sharing your findings with the community.
