If I can't get into my computer because the email is not a working email how can I change me settings. I was on my computer and it kept asking for me to get a verification code and the email is one that I have not used in 20 years. I can't change me settings if I can't get into my computer

    Hi marie menno,

I'm sorry to hear you're locked out of your computer.

If Windows is requesting a verification code from an email address that you no longer have access to, the most important step is to recover or update the security information associated with your Microsoft account. Microsoft provides an account recovery form that can help verify account ownership and restore access: Recover your account

When completing the form, provide as much accurate information as possible about the account to improve the chances of successful verification. If you still have access to other recovery options, such as a phone number or alternate email address, those may also help during the recovery process.

To better understand your situation, could you let us know:

    1. Are you signing in with a Microsoft account or a local Windows account?
    2. Is the verification request appearing on the Windows sign-in screen or on a Microsoft account webpage?
    3. Do you have access to any alternate recovery methods?

With that information, the community can provide more targeted guidance. Wishing you the best, and we look forward to helping you regain access to your device.

Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.
