I have several contact lists in Hotmail, but when I try to add someone, it says there are no members. What happened?

Is this what you are seeing?

If so, it's a known bug. See the Answer by "Hornblower409 May 28, 2026" in

    Hi, @Suzi Yahney

Your Hotmail contacts are managed through the Outlook.com “People” page.

Please open https://outlook.live.com/people/ and check the following:

    1. Are the individual contacts still visible under “Your contacts”?
    2. When you open “All contact lists,” are the existing members missing from every list or only one list?
    3. Does the same issue happen in another browser or an InPrivate window?

You can also select an individual contact, click “Add to list,” and choose the correct list. Make sure the contact has an email address, as contacts without one cannot be added to a contact list.

What is the exact message shown when you try to add someone?

    Thanks!
