I have followed all the options to try and set up, but I seem to be going round in circles. It either doesn't recognise my account details, or if I bypass this, it won't accept further details and says, please try again. When I try and name the device, it's supposed to restart, but it doesn't do that either. Moved from Microsoft 365 and Office | Access | For home | Windows

Hello nik main,

It sounds like you’re trying to set up Microsoft Office on a second laptop, but the setup keeps looping, does not recognize the account details, and will not continue after selecting the bypass option.

First, can you confirm:

  1. Is it Microsoft 365, or a one-time version such as Office 2021/2024?
  2. Is the sign-in a personal account or a work/school account?
  3. What is the exact error message?

In the meanwhile, you can try the options below and check whether the issue continues:

  1. Restart the laptop manually from Power > Restart, then connect to a reliable Wi-Fi network or Ethernet cable. Restarting can clear temporary sign-in errors.
  2. On another device, sign in to the account online. If it is not recognized there either, use the Microsoft account Sign-in Helper.
  3. Do not use Register device unless it is a Surface. Other Windows 11 laptops are added automatically after signing in.
  4. Rename it later under Settings > System > About > Rename this PC, then choose Restart now.

Note: If it is company-managed, please contact IT instead of renaming or resetting it.

Please let me know how it goes after trying these steps, and I'll be glad to continue looking into it with you.
