No matter what I do in Microsoft Edge, the program just keeps crashing. Along with the other web browsers, also.

    Hi,

If all the browsers crash, Edge isn't an issue.

How much RAM is there and is it above 80% at times?

    In the Windows search,

Type cmd, right-click it, and choose Run as Administrator.

    Execute:

    sfc /scannow

Let me know if it finds corrupt files.

I look forward to hearing from you to get the results of the troubleshooting.

Work through these steps in order. After each step, start Edge again and check whether it stays open.

    1. Close all existing Edge processes.
      • Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
      • End every msedge.exe task.
      • Start Edge again.
    2. Reduce memory pressure.
      • Close other apps and programs.
      • Pause downloads.
      • If Edge stays open briefly, close extra tabs and remove extensions that are not needed.
    3. Make sure Edge is up to date.
      • In Edge, go to Settings and more > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
      • Install any available update.
    4. Clear browsing data if Edge opens long enough.
      • Go to Settings and more > History > Open history page > Delete browsing data.
      • Set Time range to All time.
      • Clear Browsing history and Cached images and files.
    5. Turn off graphics acceleration if Edge opens long enough.
      • Go to edge://settings/system.
      • Turn off Use graphics acceleration when available.
      • Restart Edge.
      • If this fixes the issue, update the GPU driver, then turn graphics acceleration back on.
    6. Test with a temporary Edge profile.
      • Open Command Prompt and run:
         "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --user-data-dir="%TEMP%\edge-test-profile"

      • If Edge works with the test profile, the original profile is likely corrupted.
    7. Create a new profile if the test profile works.
      • Close all Edge windows.
      • Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data.
      • Rename the Default folder to Default.old.
      • Start Edge to create a fresh Default profile.
      • If Edge is stable, copy needed data such as Bookmarks from Default.old to the new profile.
    8. Repair Edge.
      • Close Edge for all users on the device.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Select Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair.
      • Internet access is required for repair.
      • Browser data and settings should not be affected.
      • If Modify is unavailable, Edge is likely managed by the organization and the system administrator must handle the repair.
    9. Restart the computer.
      • A running process or program may be interfering with Edge.
    10. Check security software and malware.

Because other browsers are also crashing, also check whether webpages fail in multiple browsers due to a network problem:

    • Try the same page in another browser.
    • Restart the modem and router.
    • If the page still does not open anywhere, the issue may be with the network or the website.

If the problem continues and support is needed, collect:

    • Edge version from edge://version
    • Recent crash ID from edge://crashes
    • Application Error events from Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application filtered for msedge.exe
