Recently had a hard drive issue with my Surface Pro6 and I have to reinstall all the programs. The problem is that I can't find my product key under my subscription. I have the credit card prof of purchasing/renew for the past 3 years but yet I can't find it under my login. I only have Microsoft email with the order number. How can I get my product key?

Did you sign up via Microsoft directly? Is the subscription listed online in your account anyway but you just don’t see a product key?

Subscription doesn’t come with the key. The account itself is the license. If you see your subscription listed in your account online you should find the download option to download the installer and install it. Once installed just sign into your Microsoft account on the apps to activate them.

For Microsoft 365, the full product key usually is not displayed. The subscription is normally tied to the Microsoft account used to buy it, and that account replaces the product key for reinstalling and activating Office.

    What to do:

    1. Sign in to Services & subscriptions with the Microsoft account used for the purchase: https://account.microsoft.com/services/
      • If the subscription appears there, use it to reinstall Office.
      • In an Office app, File > Account can also show the Microsoft account listed after Belongs to.
    2. Check Order History for the purchase: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders
      • If the purchase was a one-time Office purchase from Microsoft Store and it has not been installed yet, Install Office may show a product key.
      • If only Install appears, select it to start the download. Some products do not show a product key.
    3. If the subscription is missing under the current sign-in, check whether a different Microsoft account was used for the purchase. This is a common reason a subscription does not appear.
    4. If the renewal was bought in a retail store, the renewal is not complete until the 25-character key is redeemed at: https://microsoft365.com/setup
    5. If the product key was lost or damaged, and there is valid proof of purchase, Microsoft support may be able to replace the key or provide other options. Since there is an order number and proof of payment, contact Microsoft support: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/

If the goal is only to reinstall Microsoft 365, the key is usually not needed as long as the correct Microsoft account is used.
