Microsoft For Startups - Horrible User Experience trying to onboard

I'm trying to join the Microsoft for Startups, but I am getting absolutely no where with this. I constantly get errors with auth and / or redirected. I've tried different accounts, email, and creating new accounts. I've followed the support, but nothing is working, and this process is horrible. Lastly, there is no support for this, just absolutely false advertising stating they offer things that are not true.

For Microsoft for Startups onboarding, the supported path is to use a personal Microsoft account (MSA). Work or school accounts aren’t supported for sign-up, and using an organizational account can cause eligibility or activation errors.

    Supported account types include:

    • Outlook.com
    • Hotmail.com
    • Live.com
    • Gmail registered as a Microsoft account
    • A personal email domain registered as a Microsoft account and not managed by an organization

The account must also be a new eligible Microsoft account that hasn’t previously been used with:

    • Azure Free Trial
    • Azure for Students
    • Previous Microsoft for Startups offers
    • Other Azure sponsorship or promotional offers

If the issue is onboarding, portal access, benefit activation, or credit activation, that is in scope for Microsoft for Startups Program Support.

Use one of these support paths based on the experience being used:

    1. If using the Microsoft for Startups Portal and joined before May 29, 2026
      • Sign in to the Microsoft for Startups Portal.
      • Select the ? icon in the top-right corner.
      • Select Submit a Support Ticket.
      • Attach screenshots of the auth or redirect errors.
    2. Program support through Azure Portal
      • Go to the Azure portal.
      • Navigate to the startup homepage.
      • In Overview, find Your Microsoft Team.
      • Select Get program support.
      • Choose the category that matches onboarding, portal access, or benefit activation.
    3. If the problem is technical Azure runtime or service behavior instead of onboarding
      • Use standard Azure Support in the Azure Portal, because Microsoft for Startups Program Support does not handle Azure service outages, runtime failures, production debugging, architecture design, or performance tuning.

For benefit redemption issues such as GitHub or Microsoft 365 not redeeming, common documented causes are:

    • The account already redeemed the same benefit
    • The account is an existing enterprise account
    • Eligibility or verification requirements are incomplete

Program Support can confirm eligibility and next steps for those cases.
