Replacement for Microsoft Publisher

What is the closest program to replace Microsoft Publisher? anything I've tried doesn't come close to Publisher. I can't imagine all the customers that use Publisher can find anything that is close to Publisher either.

    There's no replacement for Publisher, not from Microsoft nor anyone else, because the market for paper-based content has dwindled. Microsoft was the last holdout still offering the features of Publisher, but with a declining user base it was no longer economical.

    Most people now use Microsoft Word or a similar document app from other publishers.
