A cloud-based identity and access management service for securing user authentication and resource access
Hello Jen Anning ,
Greetings! Thanks for raising this question in Q&A forum.
From your description, it sounds like your account is stuck in a multi-factor authentication (MFA) loop because the Microsoft Authenticator app is no longer providing valid verification codes. If this is a Microsoft 365 work or school account and you cannot complete MFA, you will not be able to update your security settings yourself, even if you are the administrator.
- Try signing in from a browser and select Sign-in options to see whether another verification method (phone, email, security key, or backup method) is available.
- If no alternative method is available, sign in to the Microsoft Entra Admin Center using another Global Administrator account, if your organization has one.
- If you are the only Global Administrator and cannot complete MFA, you will need to contact Microsoft Support so they can validate ownership of the tenant and advise on account recovery.
- Do not remove and recreate the account until recovery options have been reviewed, as this can make access recovery more difficult.
At this point, the next action is typically with the tenant administrator (if another admin exists) or Microsoft Support. They can review the authentication configuration and help restore access to the account.
