How do I fix my microphone issue where my input sound says no devices found?

I am new to computers, but it says under inputs in sound that no device was found. Bluetooth is turned off and I just want to use the microphone built into my computer; how do I fix this issue?

This problem appears if Windows cannot find the required audio input drivers for your internal microphone to work.

To resolve the issue,

1. Open the Device Manager.
2. Expand the arrow next to Sound, video and game controllers.
3. Right-click your default audio output driver (such as Realtek (R), select Uninstall device, select the " Attempt to delete the driver software for this device " checkbox, and then click Uninstall.
4. Once uninstalled, restart your computer and check the audio input. See if it is recognized now.

Try these steps in order for Windows 10 when Sound > Input shows No input devices found:

1. Check microphone privacy settings
   • Go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
   • Turn on Allow apps to access your microphone.
   • Turn on Allow desktop apps to access your microphone.
   • Then go back to Settings > System > Sound and check whether the built-in microphone appears.
2. Make sure the built-in microphone is selected if it appears
   • Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
   • Under Input, check Choose your input device.
   • If the microphone appears, select it.
   • Speak and check Test your microphone to confirm Windows is hearing sound.
3. Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter
   • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
   • Select Recording Audio and run it.
4. Reinstall the audio driver
   • Warning: this removes the current audio device driver before Windows installs it again.
