Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

May I please know the make and model of your printer?

To find your printer's make and model, look at the front, top, or control panel of the machine.

Or, in some models, you can also check the back or bottom label or the original box that came with the purchase.

A Driver is unavailable message usually means the printer driver is missing, outdated, or incompatible. Since scanning works, start with the printer driver and printer reinstall path.

    1. Update the printer driver in Windows
      • Open Start > Device Manager.
      • Expand Printers.
      • Right-click the printer and select Update driver.
      • If Windows finds a compatible driver, install it and test printing.
    2. Install the latest driver from the printer manufacturer
      • Go to the printer manufacturer’s support site.
      • Search for the exact printer model.
      • Download a driver that matches the installed Windows version and system type.
      • Install it, then restart the PC.
    3. Remove and reinstall the printer
      • On Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      • On Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
      • Select the printer and choose Remove or Remove device.
      • Restart the PC.
      • Return to Printers & scanners and select Add a printer or scanner or Add device.
      • After reinstalling, print a test page to confirm it works.
    4. If the issue started after a recent driver update, roll back the driver
      • Open Start, type Device Manager, and open it.
      • Expand Printers or Print queues.
      • Right-click the printer and select Properties.
      • On the Driver tab, select Roll Back Driver if available.
      • Restart the PC and test printing again.
    5. Run the printer troubleshooter
      • Press Windows logo key + S and search for Devices and Printers.
      • Right-click the printer and select Troubleshoot.
      • Follow the wizard.

If Windows still shows Driver is unavailable after reinstalling, the next step is to use the manufacturer’s latest compatible driver rather than the current installed one.
