My fingerprint authentication no longer identifies me. How do I re-calibrate?

    Hey there, Phillip Manno

Providing you can sign into your Windows account, please can you click onto start and open settings.

    User's image

When the settings app opens, please click onto "Accounts" on the left-hand navigation menu

    User's image

Then click onto "Sign-in options" under account settings

Then click onto "Fingerprint recognition" where you should be able to re-register your fingerprint again for your PC/account.

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan

Sign in with a PIN or password, then remove and set up the fingerprint again.

    1. Open Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
    2. Select Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello).
    3. Choose Remove to delete the current fingerprint enrollment.
    4. Select Set up or Add another to register the fingerprint again.
    5. When registering, place the finger in the middle of the sensor with light pressure and change the finger position slightly a few times so more angles are captured.

    If recognition is still unreliable:

    • Make sure the fingerprint reader and finger are clean and dry.
    • Use the same finger originally enrolled, or add another finger.
    • Check for driver updates for the fingerprint device.
    • If the sensor is on a Surface keyboard, detach and reattach the keyboard, then try again.
    • If the fingerprint sensor is a Fingerprint Power Button, place the finger flat in the middle and avoid moving it during recognition.

If fingerprint sign-in still fails, sign in with a PIN and re-register again. If PIN also fails, reset the PIN from Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
