    Hi,

    1. Are you using a Microsoft 365 subscription, or do you have a one time purchase version such as Microsoft Office 2024?
    2. Are you signed in to the same Microsoft account in your Office apps that was used to purchase or activate the license?
    3. Please also go to: https://account.microsoft.com/services

Can you confirm if your license or subscription appears there and is listed as active?

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Update Office
      • Open an Office app.
      • Go to File > Account.
      • Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now.
      • If Update Now is not shown, select Enable Updates first.
    2. Start Excel in Safe Mode
      • Open Run.
      • Type excel /safe and press Enter.
      • If Excel opens in Safe Mode, the problem is likely an add-in.
    3. Disable add-ins one at a time
      • While Excel is still in Safe Mode, go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
      • In the Manage list, select Excel Add-ins and choose Go. If needed, select COM Add-ins instead.
      • Clear one add-in, select OK, then restart Excel normally.
      • If Excel opens, the add-in that was cleared is the cause.
      • Older add-ins known to cause problems include ABBYY FineReader and Dragon Naturally Speaking.
    4. Repair Office
      • If Excel does not start in Safe Mode, or disabling add-ins does not fix it, repair Office.
      • A quick repair can help first. If that does not work, use Online Repair.
      • In Windows, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Find Microsoft 365 or Office, select Modify, then choose Online Repair.
      • This can take 15–30 minutes. Do not cancel it.
    5. Install Windows updates
      • Older device drivers can cause Office errors.
      • In Windows Update, select Check for updates and install available updates.

If Excel is freezing or not responding, also check whether Excel is busy with another process before clicking again.
