If you mean your Microsoft Community forum account, please note that it is neither a personal account nor a business account. It is simply the account used to sign in and participate in the Microsoft Community by posting questions and replies.

Business (work or school) accounts usually belong to an organization or educational institution, although individuals can also purchase Microsoft 365 Business subscriptions themselves. These accounts are often associated with an organization's domain and may include a tenant domain ending in .onmicrosoft.com.

Personal Microsoft accounts can be created free of charge and commonly use domains such as @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, or @live.com.

Regarding the email address, the available options depend on the type of account involved. If you can clarify which account you are trying to update and where you are seeing the incorrect email address, I'll be happy to provide more specific guidance.

If this is a Microsoft 365 work or school account, changing the email address is an admin task. A User Administrator can change it in the Microsoft 365 admin center:

1. Go to Users > Active users.
2. Select the user.
3. On the Account tab, select Manage username and email.
4. Edit the username/email address, make sure the correct domain is selected, and save the change.

If only the display name is wrong, the admin can instead use Manage contact information.

If this is a personal Microsoft account, the email address is managed as an alias:

1. Sign in to Edit account info.
2. Choose Add email, Add phone number, or Remove next to an existing address.
3. A new alias can be added and then made the primary sign-in if needed.

How to tell which type of account it is:

• Business account: managed by an organization in Microsoft 365, and changes are typically made by an admin in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
• Personal account: managed through the Microsoft account Your info / Edit account info page, where aliases can be added, removed, or updated.
