Hello,

I am experiencing the same issue with Azure for Students academic verification.

I am a full-time student at Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Vietnam.

When I try to register for Azure for Students, I receive the following error:

"Unable to confirm your University ID."

I have entered my university information correctly, including:

School name: Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy

Country/Region: Vietnam

However, the system is still unable to verify my academic status.

Could you please help me understand why my university ID cannot be confirmed and advise me on an alternative way to verify my student status?

I would be happy to provide appropriate proof of current student enrollment through a private and secure verification process if required.

Thank you for your assistance.

    Hey there, Bùi lê Quân

When I try to register for Azure for Students, I receive the following error: "Unable to confirm your University ID."

When trying to register for Azure for Students, the error “Unable to confirm your University ID” usually appears when Microsoft’s verification system can’t confirm that your email address belongs to an approved university domain.

    This often happens when:

    • Your student email uses a sub‑domain (e.g., student.universityName.ac.uk)
    • Your university uses a non‑standard domain
    • Microsoft has not yet added your school’s domain to its academic verification list

If your email is on a sub‑domain, please speak to your university’s IT department. They can check whether your student domain is properly linked to the main university domain and whether other students have experienced the same issue. In some cases, they may be able to provide an email address on the main domain instead.

It’s also worth checking whether your school email qualifies for Microsoft’s educational licensing here: https://www.microsoft.com/en/education/students

Your IT team may need to open a support request with the Azure Billing team through the Help & Support blade: https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade

If you’d prefer to open the support request yourself, I can walk you through the steps, but you will need an Azure subscription first. Just let me know and I’ll guide you on which subscription to create so you can submit the request.

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan
