    Hello Ed Forrest

Please do not delete or overwrite the original .pub file. Keep it as your backup.

    To create a Word copy:

    1. Open the file in Publisher.
    2. Select File > Save As.
    3. Choose a different filename or location.
    4. In Save as type, select Word Document, then select Save.

Do not simply change .pub to .docx, as that does not convert the file.

Please note that Publisher can transfer the text to Word, but the complete layout, graphics, and columns may not be preserved.

If preserving the appearance is most important, also save a PDF copy through File > Save As > PDF before making any other changes.

I hope this helps you protect the original file and create the copy you need.

Feel free reply back to this post if you need further assistance, I'll be happy to help.
