ram problem

Question

My computer's motherboard has 4 RAM slots. I have 2X4 GB of RAM installed. I want to put 2X8 GB in the remaining 2 slots. Would it be okay to do that?

Computer and motherboard manufacturer's often:

a) indicate the maximum usable RAM

b) offer Qualified Vendor Lists (QVL)

Check the applicable list for tested RAM modules.

Then you'll have more useful information for installing RAM.
