Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Sorry, I’m not quite clear about the issue.

Are you having difficulty accessing or using your OneDrive files in Microsoft Edge, or do you simply not want your personal OneDrive files to appear in OneDrive online when using Edge?

Please note that OneDrive Cloud is available in both the app and web versions.

If you go to https://onedrive.live.com/ on your Edge web browser and sign in with your Microsoft account, you may see all of your files there.

This doesn't mean that the files are stored in Edge. Edge is simply the web browser used to access OneDrive online.

To keep personal OneDrive files on a Mac and avoid using Microsoft Edge, use the OneDrive sync app and work from Finder or Safari.

    1. Set up OneDrive on the Mac.
      • Install and sign in to the OneDrive sync app with the personal Microsoft account.
      • After setup, a copy of OneDrive is downloaded to the Mac and kept in sync.
      • On Mac, files appear under OneDrive in Finder.
    2. Move or copy files into the OneDrive folder from Finder.
      • Open Finder.
      • Go to the OneDrive folder.
      • Drag files into that folder to move them, or use Copy and Paste to keep the original files in place.
      • Saving files directly into the OneDrive folder from apps also uploads them automatically.
    3. If files seem to “keep shifting,” use the current OneDrive folder location on macOS.
      • On macOS 12.1 and later, the OneDrive path moved to Library > Cloud Storage > OneDrive.
      • An alias may still exist in the old location.
      • If pinned or recent files open the wrong place, open them from Finder > Library > Cloud Storage > OneDrive instead.
    4. Use Safari instead of Edge for web access.
      • Personal OneDrive files can be accessed in a browser.
      • Safari can be used to sign in and view or download files online.
      • Edge is not required.
    5. If files are moving between accounts, copy them instead of dragging.
      • If both personal and work/school OneDrive accounts are set up, use Copy and Paste in Finder rather than drag and drop.
      • This is less prone to errors.

    Important notes:

    • Moving files from another folder on the Mac into OneDrive removes them from the original local folder and places them in OneDrive.
    • Copying files keeps the original in place.
    • If files were shared before, they must be shared again after copying.
    • Files copied from a work/school OneDrive to personal OneDrive are treated as new files and do not keep metadata such as Date created or Modified By.
