    Hi Peter Kelly

I’m sorry you’re having trouble adding your personal account to Outlook for Android, especially after clearing both the cache and app data without improvement.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas only.

Because the issue occurs in the work-profile version of Outlook, it may be caused by your organization’s management policy. A managed Outlook app can be configured to allow only organizational accounts, which would prevent a personal account from being added even when the credentials are correct.

Please try adding the same account to the personal-profile version of Outlook, identified by the Outlook icon without the work briefcase badge. If it works there, this confirms that the account itself is fine and the restriction applies only to the work profile.

If you must use the account inside the work profile, please contact your organization’s IT administrator and ask whether personal accounts are permitted in the managed Outlook app. Clearing the cache, clearing app data, or reinstalling Outlook will not override an organizational policy.

If the account also fails in the personal-profile version of Outlook, please update Outlook to the latest version and confirm that you can sign in to the account through a web browser. For a Microsoft personal account, you can then use Microsoft’s Sign-in Helper to check for an account-level authentication issue.

I hope this helps clarify the likely cause and the next steps.
