Fabric Trial suddenly removed well before 60 days

I had started my 60 days Fabric Trial for my account and using it - created a few notebooks, copyjobs, Lakehouse. But today (with 25 days left of the trial period), I don't see Fabric Trial assigned to my workspace, and instead Power BI trial has been activated. As a result I am unable to use/create any Fabric item in my workspace. Is there any way to get back the Fabric capacity?

    Hi,

While a Microsoft Fabric trial typically remains available for up to 60 days, there are situations where access to the trial capacity may be removed before the displayed expiration date. When this occurs, any workspaces that were assigned to the trial capacity are usually moved automatically to a Pro workspace. As a result, Fabric assets such as Lakehouses, Notebooks, Pipelines, and Copy Jobs may no longer be accessible.

To better understand the situation, I would suggest checking the following:

    • First, navigate to Admin Portal > Capacity Settings > Trial and confirm whether the original Fabric trial capacity is still available and active.
    • If your tenant has another Fabric trial capacity available, you may want to try reassigning the affected workspace to that capacity.
    • In addition, verify that the tenant setting "Users can create Fabric items" is enabled.

If the original trial capacity has been removed from the tenant, unfortunately it is generally not possible to restore that specific trial capacity. In that case, the recommended approach would be to assign the workspace to a supported paid capacity, such as a Fabric Capacity (F SKU) or a Power BI Premium capacity that supports Fabric workloads.

On a positive note, the Fabric items themselves are not always deleted immediately. According to Microsoft's guidance, non-Power BI Fabric content may remain recoverable for a limited period following the removal or expiration of a trial capacity, provided that the workspace is reassigned to a supported capacity within the recovery window.

Furthermore, if you do not have Fabric or Power BI administrator privileges, I would recommend contacting your Microsoft 365 or Power BI administrator. They can verify whether the trial capacity was disabled or removed at the tenant level and help determine the available recovery options.

For additional details, you may find the following Microsoft article helpful: Fabric trial capacity.

I hope this information helps clarify what may have happened and points you in the right direction. Please feel free to share any updates or additional details, and I'll be happy to assist further.

    Best regards,
