    1

    Open Word.

At the top right of Word, log out of Office.

Restart (not shut down) your PC, then log back into Office, is your new subscription then recognized correctly.

    2

If not, open Word, go to File - Account.

Click the 'Switch Licence' button, are you able to enable your new subscription from there.

    3

If not, log into your Microsoft account on this link, check the expiry date listed on your subscription, is that listed correctly.

    https://account.microsoft.com/services/

If not, go to the Billing section, is it indicated your payment has been processed correctly.

Most likely, the new subscription has not been redeemed to the same Microsoft account that is currently showing the old expiration date.

    Check it this way:

    1. Go to your Subscriptions page.
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account used for the new Microsoft 365 purchase or setup.
    3. Under Subscriptions:
      • If it shows a circle arrow, recurring billing is on, and the next charge date is shown.
      • If it shows Expires on [date], that is the active expiration date for that subscription.

If the new 8/2027 subscription does not appear there:

    1. If the new Microsoft 365 came from a retail box, card, or store purchase, the subscription does not start until the product key is redeemed.
    2. Redeem it at Office.com/setup or https://microsoft365.com/setup.
    3. After redemption, it is added to the Microsoft account used during that process.

If Microsoft 365 apps on the PC still show the old or expired license after renewal:

    1. Close all open Microsoft 365 apps.
    2. Open them again.
    3. Sign in again with the Microsoft account associated with the renewed or newly redeemed subscription.

If the subscription was renewed early, unused time is not lost. The expiration date is extended.

If the subscription still does not appear after checking the correct account and redeeming the key, contact Microsoft Support.
