Hotmail not receiving Gmail emails

Hi all,

I cannot receive gmails emails into my hotmail email unless I add each individual email address to my safe senders list. I've tried creating a rule whereby all senders names including gmail.com are sent to my inbox but that doesn't seem to work. Naturally I can't add a gmail address to a safe sender list if I don't know it's being sent.
Has anyone had the same issue?

A rule cannot work. Rules work only for messages delivered to the Inbox. They don't work for messages delivered to the Junk Email folder or for messages whose delivery is inhibited. What did you see when you checked the page I cited?

Since you have the Standard setting, unless Microsoft's server believes the message is spam and is filtering it prior to when it arrives in the Inbox, it should show up. Do you have a Gmail account you control that you can use for testing to see if the sending address (which would be you if you're testing) receives a non-delivery report? Is it does, the report should contain the reason for non-delivery.

Let me know what you find, if you wish.

Thanks Brian, but the only two gmails I’ve ever received are from the two addresses that I’ve added to the safe senders list, even though I have created the rule “if the senders address includes the words Gmail”.

    its very frustrating

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

You can simply add the "gmail.com" domain to your Safe Sender list if you want all mail with a From address ending in @gmail.com to flow to the Inbox. Of course, this means that you'll also receive any real spam that uses a Gmail From address into your Inbox as well. Outlook.com does not have a blanket "treat all Gmail as spam" rule. I get Gmail messages all the time.

Visit https://outlook.live.com/mail/options/mail/junkEmail to see if you have the "Strict" radio button selected. If you do, then anyone sending mail to you whose address is not a contact or in the Safe Sender list will have their messages delivered to the Junk Email folder. Choosing Standard will ease that restriction so that you will be able to receive most new address email.

If the messages are not arriving in the Junk Email folder or the Inbox (that is, they aren't being received at all), adding the From address to the Safe Sender list cannot help. The Safe Sender list only allows messages that would normally be delivered to the Junk Email folder to instead be delivered to Inbox.
