Using older versions of Outlook for Mac for personal email and calendar
I’m sorry to hear that Outlook keeps downloading the same emails repeatedly. I understand how frustrating this is, especially when it consumes your mobile data and fills the storage on your laptop and phone.
Since you have already reinstalled Outlook and the issue occurs on more than one device, could you please confirm whether the affected account is a Microsoft 365/Exchange/Outlook.com account or a third-party IMAP account such as Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, or a custom domain?
In the meantime, please check whether the same duplicate or repeated-download behavior appears when you access the mailbox through webmail. If webmail works normally, the issue is more likely related to synchronization in the Outlook apps.
If you are using an IMAP account in Legacy Outlook for Mac, open Outlook > Settings > Accounts, select the account, and review the Advanced settings. If available, enable Download headers only and check the IMAP synchronization settings to reduce unnecessary downloads.
Please avoid resetting the account while connected to mobile data, as rebuilding the local cache may cause the entire mailbox to download again. You can also temporarily pause synchronization on the other devices and test with only one device connected, then reconnect the devices one at a time.
As Legacy Outlook for Mac is approaching the end of support, I also recommend testing the current Outlook for Mac by turning off the Legacy Outlook switch.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.
