    Hi rgl12191 Levy,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, I understand that you would like to cancel an employee's subscription.

If your goal is simply to reduce the number of licenses assigned within your tenant, rather than canceling the entire subscription, you can do the following:

Note: The steps below require an account with Administrator permissions in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. If you do not have administrator rights, please contact your IT department for assistance.

First, you need to unassign the license from the employee's account:

    Step 1: Go to admin.microsoft.com.

Step 2: Select Users > Active users and locate the employee account from which you want to remove the license.

Step 3: Select Licenses and apps > uncheck the license currently assigned to that account.

Next, to reduce the number of licenses you are being billed for until you hire another employee, follow these steps:

    1. In the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, go to Billing > Your products.
    2. Select the subscription for which you want to reduce the license count.
    3. On the subscription page, select Remove licenses.
    4. In the Remove licenses pane, specify the following:
      • When you want the change to take effect.
        • The new total number of licenses you want to keep.
        1. Select Save to complete the process.

You can refer to the following documentation:

Step 6 - Remove and delete a Microsoft 365 for business license from a former employee - Microsoft …

If, instead, you would like to stop the subscription entirely, you can do the following:

    1. In the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, go to Billing > Your products.
    2. Select the subscription that you want to cancel.
    3. Under Edit recurring billing, switch the option to Off.

After completing these steps, the subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing term and will not renew automatically afterward.

You can refer to the following documentation:

Manage recurring billing in the Microsoft 365 admin center | Microsoft Learn

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.
