Outlook for Android wouldn't provide an option to add AOL-Verizon email address as IMAP account

I'm trying to get my email to work in Outlook for Android on a new Moto G Stylus (2025), I believe running Android 16. I have an old Verizon email address hosted by AOL, that feeds into Outlook on my desktop, and to all my previous android cell phones. The issue is I cannot get to an IMAP account set up option in Outlook on the new phone. I select Add an account, put in my verizon email address and when I hit enter a message flashes at the top of the screen saying "Not Yahoo?" for about a second then disappears and puts me in a Yahoo login page. There is no way to get to an option to add an IMAP account, and in-app Outlook mobile support has been totally unhelpful in trying to resolve this to date. It has taken tech support in the past to get IMAP account set up for my AOL-verizon email on cell phone, but it's always been doable.

Thanks for clarifying. Since Gmail was able to add your Verizon/AOL account as POP3, the account itself is working.

If you want to use IMAP, I’d recommend contacting AOL/Verizon to confirm the current IMAP and SMTP settings for your account, then enter those through Outlook’s manual/advanced setup if that option becomes available.

You could also try adding the account to Outlook as POP3, since Gmail was able to do that successfully. Also, just to add up, this is what I am seeing on my end which is similar to yours if you will close the keyboard on your screen:

Then if you click the "Not Yahoo" you should see "Change account provider" option which will show more options to choose from like the IMAP and POP.

Hi there! Sorry to hear about your experience with the app.
I actually tested this on my end and add a Verizon email address. I also get to the part where it shows the "Not Yahoo" message but it does work on my end and it didn't crash or disappears. But it did brought me to the Yahoo login page in which you will find the "Not Yahoo" option again below it.

Once you clicked on it, you'll then have the option to choose your email provider and from there just click on "IMAP" and toggle on "ADVANCED SETTINGS" so that way you can put your IMAP settings manually. If that option disappears too quickly, try tapping the screen immediately after entering the address, or back out and try the setup again.

I hope this helps! But if the option you are seeing is not similar, please dont hesitate to let me know here and if you can share a screenshot of the page that would be great so me and other users will get an idea on where you are stuck at. (Just make sure not to include any information like your email address on the screenshot) as this is a public community and all other users of Microsoft community can see it.
