    Hello David Pigott,

I understand that you want to access the password for the email account so you can sign in and create a new one. To make sure this question is in the correct support area, could you confirm whether this is a personal Microsoft account, such as an Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com, or MSN.com account, or a work or school Exchange account? Please do not post the complete email address.

If this is a personal Microsoft account, the current password cannot be displayed in Outlook. If you have forgotten it, select Forgot password? on the Microsoft account sign-in page, enter the account address, verify your identity using an available security method, and then create a new password. For detailed instructions, see Reset a forgotten Microsoft account password.

If this is a work or school Exchange account, that account type is outside the scope of this Outlook.com personal-account forum. Please contact the organization’s IT administrator or post a new question under the appropriate Microsoft 365 business section.

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot view passwords, access accounts, or reset account credentials.

I hope this helps clarify the correct next step.
