Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi akay
I’m sorry to hear that your older and important emails have disappeared. I understand how concerning this must be, especially when you are unsure whether those messages can still be recovered.
Since you have already set Mail to keep offline to All, removed and re-added the account on your devices, and checked the Archive and Deleted Items folders, you do not need to repeat those steps.
Please sign in directly to Outlook.com using the affected account. Search for a specific email that you know was received before April 12, 2026, using the sender’s address, subject, or a keyword from the message.
Please also check the following:
- Select Filter > All, then sort the message list by date.
- Go to Settings > Mail > Rules and check whether any rule may have moved or deleted the messages.
- Open Deleted Items, then select Recover items deleted from this folder.
Even if the emails are no longer visible in the regular Deleted Items folder, they may still appear in the recoverable items area. You can follow Microsoft’s official instructions here: Recover and restore deleted items in Outlook
If the older emails are visible in Outlook.com but not in Classic Outlook, this indicates that the messages are still stored in the online mailbox. The issue may then be related to the Outlook profile or its local cache.
If the emails are also missing from Outlook.com and cannot be found under Recover items deleted from this folder, please contact Microsoft Support:
- Visit Contact Microsoft Support.
- Select Show expanded list of products.
- Select Outlook, then choose Get Home support.
- Enter the issue in the search box and select Get Help > Contact Support.
- Sign in with the affected account. If necessary, use another accessible Microsoft account to view the available support options.
- Under Products and services, select Other Products > Outlook.
- Choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser, if that option is available.
