If the Surface included Microsoft 365 Personal, the redemption is typically tied to the Microsoft account used on the device. A supported path from the available guidance is:
- Open Microsoft Store.
- Go to Library.
- Check Included with devices for the Microsoft 365 Personal offer.
- Redeem it using the same Microsoft account intended for the subscription.
If there is already an active Microsoft 365 subscription on a different plan, one accepted support answer indicates redemption may be blocked until that active subscription is addressed. Do not cancel anything until Microsoft Support confirms the correct action for the account.
For Microsoft 365 Personal, the subscription allows installs on devices and sign-in on up to five at the same time. If a new Microsoft 365 Personal purchase or bundled offer is redeemed on the same Microsoft account, it can extend the existing subscription rather than replace it.
If support cannot be reached through normal channels, use these contact paths for Microsoft 365 for home:
- Try the support contact page: contact support.
- Use the Get Help app or a browser to contact support.
- Use Microsoft home support options for chat or call back if the product is a Microsoft 365 subscription.
- If needed, search support articles on https://support.microsoft.com or ask in the Microsoft Community at https://answers.microsoft.com.
If the issue is that the subscription is not showing as active yet, check the Microsoft account services and billing area to confirm the subscription status:
- Go to the Microsoft account, Payment & billing page.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the Surface offer or Microsoft 365 purchase.
- Review whether the subscription is active.
If the bundled 2-year offer still does not appear in Microsoft Store or the account after that, contact Microsoft Support through chat or callback so the entitlement can be checked on the account.
