Waited 30 days for secondary account deletion to reuse email address as an alias on primary accoun

Hello,

I need assistance regarding an account deletion issue.

Over a month ago, I created a separate, secondary Microsoft account (@outlook.com). My goal was to use this specific email address as an alias under my main, primary Microsoft account. Because I did not understand how aliases worked at the time, I deleted the secondary account, believing it would release the email address so I could add it to my primary account.

I have just completed waiting the 30-day account closure grace period. However, when I try to add the email address as an alias to my primary account, the system still blocks me.

Could you please check the exact status of this deleted email address? Since the 30 days have passed, is this address now permanently locked by the system, or is there any possible way for Microsoft to help me reclaim it or link it as an alias to my primary account?

Thank you for your time and guidance.

    Hi bakr mohamed

I understand why you expected the address to become available after 30 days. However, the 30-day period is the account-closure grace period during which the secondary Microsoft account could still be reopened. It is not a waiting period after which the Outlook.com address is released for reuse. Microsoft states that after the grace period, the account is permanently deleted.

Since the address was created as an Outlook.com account, it cannot later be attached as an existing alias to another Microsoft account. Existing Outlook.com addresses cannot be added as aliases, and an alias cannot be used to transfer or connect two Microsoft accounts.

Unfortunately, forum moderators or members cannot check the backend status of the deleted address or request that Microsoft release it. The practical option is to create a different Outlook.com alias directly under your primary account or add an eligible address from another email provider.

    Thank you for your understanding
