Azure for Students – Academic verification failure

Hello Microsoft Azure Support,

I am a full-time [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed] student in [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed], which is affiliated with [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed].

I am trying to sign up for Azure for Students so that I can learn Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Foundry as part of my Microsoft Student Ambassador journey.

My college provides students with an official college email address using the domain [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]@yahoo.co.in. However, when I enter this address during Azure for Students academic verification, I receive:

“Your email domain is not currently registered with us. You can choose another verification method.”

My [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed] student portal confirms my enrollment and my [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed] program, but it uses my personal email address rather than providing me with a separate @dbatu.ac.in institutional email.

Could you please advise me on an alternative way to verify my student status and access Azure for Students without requiring a credit card?

I can provide appropriate proof of enrollment/student status if required.

Thank you.

    Hello Adhvarya Mohite,

Thank you for explaining your situation.

To better understand the issue, could you please confirm whether you can still use your school email account normally, such as signing in to the mailbox or other Microsoft services provided by your institution?

If the account works normally, the next step would be to contact your institution’s IT department or Microsoft 365 administrator. They can confirm whether the email domain is officially managed by the institution and whether the institution is correctly registered and recognized for Azure for Students academic verification.

If you are unsure who your Microsoft 365 administrator is, please refer to the following guidance: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? | Microsoft Support

If your institution confirms that it participates in the Azure education program and that your student account is valid, but the verification still fails, please capture the complete error message, the exact verification step where the issue occurs, and the browser you are using. You can then request a manual review through Azure for Education Support: Contact Azure for Education SupportAlternatively, if you can access the Azure portal, you may create a support request and ask the Azure team to review your student account and academic verification status.
