Why is Windows trying to install a long list of obsolete graphics drivers?

I'm on Beta 26H1 build 28020.2623. Today, Windows Update is showing this ridiculous list of video drivers: (Intel Integrated Graphics 770).

They are all obsolete. The current driver is 32.0.101.7088, which Dell provided through their support site. If we are to believe what Mcrosoft claims, all of these obsolete drivers will be installed at the next cumulative update? That makes no sense.

Come now, Microsoft. Is this long list going to appear every time I check Windows Update? Thanks for any clarification, guys.

To close this off, hopefully, today when I went to look for new updates, Windows Update had (apparently) already downloaded all of those old graphics drivers and was telling me to reboot to complete the update.

That's weird. But okay, let's reboot. Not sure what else I could have done.

Fortunately, nothing harmful happened. The reboot was uneventful, immediately checking the Device Manager showed that the new graphics driver was still the active one, and going back to Windows Update no longer displayed this long list of obsolete graphics drivers.

Whew.

No, it doesn’t mean that Windows will install all those obsolete drivers during the next cumulative update.

Those entries are older Intel driver versions being offered through Windows Update. If Dell has provided 32.0.101.7088 as the current driver for your system, you should generally use that version rather than manually installing the older ones

Luckily, even though it seemed like all those obsolete drivers were about to install with a reboot, that didn't actually happen.

Point being, showing this list of old drivers is a bug. Should never happen in Windows Update.

What Windows Update usually does, when a new graphics driver is available, is to list just that new driver in WU, either a day or two before or after Dell has already provided it on their own support site.

This new scheme just messed up. My guess is, instead of this new scheme listing ONLY the one newest Intel graphics driver, the algorithm worked backwards, listing ALL EXCEPT the newest driver.
