I use a US keyboard on a laptop but with German setting. How do I change smart quotes to guillemets?

    Hello Grundmann, Roy,

I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when you're using a German language setting and Windows automatically inserts quotation marks that don't match your preferred style.

Unfortunately, Windows 11 does not provide a system-wide setting to change automatic smart quotes from German quotation marks to guillemets (« » or » «). The quotation mark style is typically determined by the individual application and its language or AutoCorrect settings rather than by Windows itself.

If you are using an application such as Microsoft Word, it may offer its own quotation mark customization options. However, for Windows itself and most standard text input scenarios, there is no built-in Windows setting to globally switch smart quotes to guillemets.

    Thank you for your understanding.
