Hello.

Everything was, fine , but this morning things change. Can you pls let me know how to fix this issue ?

The sounds are not coming from my external speakers, but just through the internal computer speakers.

How can I fix it back to the way it always was?
Many thanks,

Grace

    Hi,

Is it connected via a USB, Jack or Bluetooth?

If connected via a jack or USB, make sure it is plugged in properly. Also, try connecting it to another port to see if it works there. It is also advisable to test the external speaker with another device to make sure the speaker itself is not the problem.

Press Windows key + R, type mmsys.cpl, and click OK.

    Go to the Playback tab.

Can you see your external speaker there?

If yes, right-click on it, then enable it and set it as the default device.

If you cannot find it there, then it could be a detection issue.

For Windows 10, try these steps in order:

    1. Check that the correct playback device is selected.
      • Select the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
      • Select the arrow to open the list of audio devices.
      • Choose the external speakers instead of the internal speakers.
    2. Check the speaker connection and power.
      • Make sure the speaker cable is firmly connected.
      • If the speakers use a 3.5 mm jack, confirm they are plugged into the correct audio-out jack.
      • If they use USB, try a different USB port.
      • Make sure the speakers are powered on.
      • If headphones are plugged in, unplug them and test again.
    3. Check volume and mute settings.
      • Right-click the Speakers icon on the taskbar and select Open Volume mixer.
      • Make sure the external speaker device is not muted.
      • Increase the volume for both Windows and the speaker device.
      • If the speakers have their own volume control, check that as well.
    4. Set the external speakers as the default audio device.
      • In the taskbar search box, type control panel and open it.
      • Go to Hardware and Sound > Sound.
      • On the Playback tab, right-click the external speakers.
      • Select Set as Default Device, then select OK.
    5. Check that the device is not disabled.
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      • Select the external audio device, then select Device properties.
      • Make sure the Disable check box is cleared.

If the speakers are USB-powered, also try unplugging and reconnecting them, then test another USB port.
