"something went wrong" canot start Word. Instruction state to go to apps & features/can not find/using Windows 11

Question

I have Microsoft 365 but it will not start. I can't open Word. Instructions stated to select start then settings then apps then apps & features. There is no apps & features. Microsoft 365 does not work!

Hi John,

Please see if you can start Word in safe mode. To do so, press Win + R to open the Run dialog, type winword.exe /safe and click OK.

If Word still doesn't open, open Start > Settings > Apps. Select Installed apps. Select the Microsoft 365 or Office product, click the ellipses, and select Modify. Select Online Repair and click Repair.

On Windows 11, Apps & features may appear as Installed apps instead. Use this path:

1. Right-click Start.
2. Select Installed apps.
3. Find Microsoft 365 or Office.
4. Select the three dots next to it, then choose Modify.
5. In How would you like to repair your Office Programs, select Online Repair > Repair.
   • Quick Repair is faster, but Online Repair is the more complete fix.
6. Follow the on-screen steps, then restart the PC if prompted.

If the app-specific repair page appears instead:

1. Select Start > Settings > Apps.
2. Open Installed apps.
3. Select the More icon next to the app.
4. Open Advanced options.
5. Select Repair. If that does not fix it, select Reset.

Also try this first if not already done:

1. Wait a few minutes.
2. Restart the device.
3. Sign back in.
4. Try opening Word again.

If Word still will not start after repair, reinstalling Microsoft 365 from the account’s Services & subscriptions page is a supported next step.
