My nonprofit had a MS nonprofit account, but I am confused by the recent emails about MS sunsetting the program. How I can check if we still have an account?

    Hello

The recent change is about the nonprofit grant, meaning, as nonprofit, you no longer get the 10 Microsoft 365 premium licenses for free. You will still get the Microsoft 365 business basic license for free, up to 300 licenses.

Your account should still exist and nonprofit pricing is still available.

Sign into https://admin.microsoft.com as the organization's admin user to manage your account and users. If your users are still on the premium licenses, you need to either pay for them now, or switch them to the basic license. You can also pay for the Microsoft 365 Business Standard, the nonprofit rate for that one is very reasonable.

To check whether the nonprofit account still exists and whether nonprofit benefits are still active:

    1. Sign in to the Nonprofit Hub and select Offers. This shows current nonprofit offers, the status of Microsoft 365 and Azure benefits, activation prompts for unclaimed benefits, and expiration dates.
    2. If sign-in works, use the Microsoft account tied to the validated tenant. The username is often in the original registration or approval email and typically looks like ******@companyname.onmicrosoft.com.
    3. If the password is unknown, use the password reset process. If the username is unknown, use the username recovery process.
    4. If the portal shows Not a Global Admin, only a global admin can activate grants or update key profile data.
    5. If the account shows Something went wrong, wait up to 72 hours, then recheck eligibility in the profile. If it is still unresolved after 72 hours, submit a support request.
    6. If the only visible subscription is Nonprofit Portal (Nonprofit Staff Pricing) Trial, that does not mean Microsoft 365 services are active. That trial only supports onboarding and portal access and cannot be used for email, Office apps, or collaboration work.
    7. If access to the existing tenant has been lost, do not create a new tenant as a workaround. Request access to the existing validated tenant instead.

About the recent emails: the context shows that Microsoft 365 Business Premium nonprofit grant/donation is being discontinued, and those terms are used interchangeably in nonprofit communications. That change does not by itself mean the nonprofit account no longer exists. The account and tenant can still exist even if a specific free offer is ending.

If access cannot be recovered or the status is unclear, submit a support request through the nonprofit Contact Us form.
