For the last 1 week my email [moderator's note: PII removed]@hotmail.com is malfunctioning

All the emails are going directly into junk.

I do move them to the inbox with the instruction not to send them to the junk folder but the same thing is repeating itself on a daily basis many times a day. This is extremely frustrating

    Hi ram trehan,

I understand how frustrating it is to repeatedly find legitimate emails in the Junk folder.

At this point, I recommend that you review and try the steps provided in the AI generated answer on your thread. That reply typically include the most relevant checks for this scenario.

Could you confirm whether this happens to messages from all senders or only certain addresses or domains? Also, when moving a message back to the Inbox, are you selecting Report > Not junk or only using Move to Inbox? Selecting Not junk provides Outlook with feedback that the message was incorrectly classified.

Please also check whether the same messages appear in the Junk folder when you sign in directly to Outlook.com through a web browser. If the behavior occurs there as well and affects most or all incoming mail, it may require further investigation at the mailbox level rather than being an issue with a particular app or device.

When replying, please avoid posting your full email address or any other personal information publicly. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Try these checks in Outlook.com on the web:

    1. Check the Junk folder and mark messages correctly.
      • Open Junk Email.
      • Select a message that should not be there.
      • Choose Report > Not junk.
      • On mobile browser, use Mark as not junk. In Outlook for iOS or Android, use Move to Inbox.
    2. Add trusted senders to Safe senders.
      • Go to Settings > Mail > Junk email.
      • Under Safe senders and domains, select Add safe sender.
      • Add the sender address or domain, then select OK and Save.
      • Messages from addresses or domains on the safe senders list will not be moved to Junk Email.
    3. Check whether a sender was accidentally blocked.
      • In Settings > Mail > Junk email.
      • Review Blocked senders and domains.
      • Remove any address or domain that should not be blocked.
    4. Check for rules that may be moving mail.
      • In Settings > Mail > Rules, look for any rule that moves messages to Junk or away from Inbox.
      • Remove or disable any matching rule.
    5. Check other mailbox settings that can hide or redirect mail.
      • Check the Other tab in case Focused Inbox is sorting messages there.
      • Check whether email forwarding is enabled.
      • Check whether there are any email rules preventing messages from appearing where expected.
    6. If mail is still going to Junk repeatedly, use Outlook.com support from the Help menu.
      • In Outlook.com, select Help on the menu bar, enter the issue, then scroll to Still need help? and select Yes.

Important: messages in Junk Email are automatically removed after a retention period and are not recoverable after that, so avoid leaving wanted mail there.
