Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
I understand how disruptive this has been, especially since your previous email addresses stopped working when the old internet service was disconnected.
Yes, you and your wife can create Outlook.com email addresses and use them in either Classic Outlook or New Outlook. You do not need to purchase another Outlook license because Outlook is already included with your Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
For each person, create a separate Outlook.com address by going to Outlook.com and selecting Create free account. If your wife is not already included in the Microsoft 365 Family subscription, the subscription owner should invite her Microsoft account so she can receive the shared subscription benefits.
After creating the addresses, you can add them to Outlook:
- Classic Outlook: Select File > Add Account, enter the new address, and select Connect.
- New Outlook: Select View > View settings > Accounts > Your accounts > Add Account, then enter the new address and follow the sign-in prompts.
Before removing the previous accounts from Classic Outlook, please export any locally stored messages, contacts, and calendar items to a .pst file if they are still available. Creating new Outlook.com accounts will not automatically transfer messages from the internet provider’s mailboxes.
You may continue using Classic Outlook while setting everything up, then try New Outlook when you are ready. Keep Classic Outlook available until you have confirmed that both new accounts and any transferred data are working correctly.
