What is the exact error message shown, when you start Word, for example?

An Office repair may be worth trying. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/lifecycle/repair-an-office-application .

Try Office Safe Mode first to determine whether an add-in is blocking startup.

    1. Start an app in Safe Mode:
      • Press Windows key + R.
      • Type one of these and select OK:
        • winword /safe for Word
        • excel /safe for Excel
        • powerpnt /safe for PowerPoint
        • outlook /safe for Outlook
      • If Safe Mode opens, the title bar should show (Safe Mode).
    2. If the app opens in Safe Mode, disable add-ins:
      • In the app, go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
      • In Manage, choose the app’s add-ins or COM Add-ins, then select Go.
      • Clear one add-in, select OK, then restart the app normally.
      • If the app opens, the disabled add-in is likely the cause. Re-enable add-ins one at a time to find the problem add-in.
      • Older add-ins such as Abbyy FineReader, PowerWord, and Dragon Naturally Speaking are specifically called out as possible causes.
    3. If Outlook is the app failing:
      • Press Windows key + R.
      • Type Outlook /safe and select OK.
      • If Outlook opens, go to File > Options > Add-ins > Manage: COM Add-ins > Go.
      • Clear the selected add-ins, select OK, exit Outlook, then start Outlook normally.
      • Re-enable add-ins one at a time to identify the one causing the crash.
      • Do not remove add-ins during troubleshooting; disable them only.
    4. If the app does not open even in Safe Mode:
      • The problem is likely not an add-in.
      • Try repairing Office. If that still does not work, uninstalling and reinstalling Office may be required.
    5. If a Safe Mode prompt keeps appearing:
      • Office may have automatically disabled a problem item after a failed startup.
      • Check File > Options > Add-Ins > Manage: Disabled Items > Go.
      • Review disabled items and re-enable only if needed, because the problem can return on the next start.

Safe Mode itself is temporary. To exit it, close the app and start it normally.
